Alloy 20 is an austenitic stainless steel with less than 50% iron, specifically designed for use in sulfuric acid applications. Its corrosion resistance also makes it suitable for use in the chemical, petrochemical, power generation, and plastics industries. Compared to 304 stainless steel, Alloy 20 has superior resistance to pitting and chloride ion corrosion and similar resistance to 316L stainless steel. Its copper content provides protection from sulfuric acid. Additionally, Alloy 20 can effectively prevent stress corrosion cracking problems that may occur with 316L stainless steel.
